The Last Of Us Standalone Multiplayer Arrives 2023
During the Summer Game Fest, Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann officially confirmed the heavily rumoured standalone multiplayer based in The Last of Us universe.
While details were very vague, Druckmann stated that this is one of the biggest projects from the studio and it’s multiplayer will feature its own story mode.
Hopefully, this will be less battle royale focused and will instead take inspiration from the very under-appreciated Factions from the original game. Druckmann said that the new multiplayer mode will be set in an immersive way fitting for seasoned and fresh players.

We were treated to a snazzy concept art image for the standalone multiplayer game, though it’s not much to go by. It also wasn’t confirmed whether this will be a free-to-play multiplayer or one that has to be purchased. I’m sure we’ll learn more in the coming months.
