Ubisoft has delayed Skull and Bones for the 6th time, as well as cancelling three unannounced games.

As reported by Eurogamer, Ubisoft’s decision to delay the multiplayer pirate game and the three other games are down to poor sales of recent games. Two games that are considered to have underperformed in terms of says, according to Ubisoft are Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and Just Dance 2023.

Ubisoft says that it is facing: “major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles“. What’s more, as a result of financial pressures, Ubisoft is initiating “increased cautiousness over the coming years.

When is Skull & Bones being released, this time?

Despite starting its development at around the time of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag in 2013, Skull & Bones wasn’t officially revealed until 2017. However, since that time it has had a very troubled development and suffered many delays. At this point, I’m questioning if it’s still worth releasing.

The last release window was March 2023. However, according to Ubisoft, Skull & Bones will now launch during “early” fiscal year 2023-24. So in essence, it could even release after this time next year. That’s assuming the game doesn’t suffer further delays.
