Watch Dogs Legion Confirmed to Run at 30FPS on Next-Gen Consoles

In a recent Q&A on Reddit, it has been confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion will run at 30 frames-per-second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.  You’d be easily forgiven in thinking that most AAA games on next-gen consoles will run at a high framerate, especially as some games such as DiRT 5 having already been confirmed to run at 120 frames-per-second.

During the Q&A hosted by Ubisoft’s Live Producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan, when answering a fans question, he confirmed that Watch Dogs: Legion will run at 30FPS, with Ray-Tracing enabled at a 4K resolution.

Naturally, this news has disappointed many fans expecting to hear confirmation of the game hitting 120FPS, but in my personal opinion, even on next-gen consoles, I don’t think it’s essential for all games to hit such a high frame-rate.  I can see it benefiting racers such as DiRT 5 more, as well as some shooters such as Call of Duty, but I’m personally ok with Watch Dogs: Legion potentially not reaching 120FPS.

Plus at the time of writing, we don’t know whether or not Watch Dogs: Legion will have various performance options like we’ve seen on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.  The chances are that there will be an option that favours the resolution, framerate or somewhere in-between.  For me personally, I’d be ok if we had an option of 1440p at 60FPS.

Watch Dogs: Legion will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia on October 29th.  It will then launch for Xbox Series X|S on November 10th and PlayStation 5 from November 12th.  Those that purchase the current-gen version, will also get a free next-gen upgrade.
