During the Capcom Showcase, we learned a little more about the Resident Evil 4 remake. Though, we weren’t shown much.

To be fair, I’m happy that Capcom kept details close to its chest. Personally, I don’t want too much information revealed, especially when it involves new content for the “reimaging.” After all, the element of surprise is one of the best elements of any great horror tale.

We did see snippets of new gameplay, and a couple of new still images. We see Leon standing in the village, but it was very close up to his face, so we couldn’t see much of his surroundings. I wonder if this was after his “bingo” comment.

We also see a little more of Leon in the car hitching a ride to the location on his mission to save Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter. Elsewhere, the forests of the remake seem to have more of a gothic presence than the original.

The scenes of Leon wandering in the woods seemed to be at night, so we know at least that like the original, the Las Plagas will come out to play day and night. The Capcom devs also provided hints at some of the changes we can expect to see in the new RE4.

The third-person perspective will return, and while the game will preserve much of what made the original RE4 so popular, there will also be plenty of surprises too. The Ganado’s, the zombie-like inhabitants have been redesigned to fit more in line with the new era of Resident Evil.

If I have one concern from what was said about Resident Evil 4, is when the developers said it’s a game that “everyone can enjoy”. Don’t get me wrong, the more people that play this fantastic franchise, the better. However, I hope this doesn’t mean that horror will be watered down. We shall see.

Resident Evil 4 will release on March 24th, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S. Are you looking forward to the reimagining of RE4? Let us know across our social media channels.
