You know in an ideal world, we would have had another groundbreaking Silent Hill game now that this generation is almost over, that really utilized the best of what the technology of today had to offer. Imagine Silent Hill with graphics like something out of Days Gone, makes you drool, doesn’t it? Luckily, we do seem to be getting the next best thing thanks to Bloober Team, developers of Layers of Fear and The Blair Witch.

The Medium continues to impress with its features that look to really utilise what the next-gen systems have to offer. One such feature was teased today. For those of you unaware, The Medium deals with the themes of paranormal, giving you control of a medium who is able to travel to a broken mirror of our own world. Basically like the otherworldly from Silent Hill.

In order to really make this system shine, Bloober Team has stated that the game will be rendering both worlds simultaneously, allowing for quick switch between two different worlds. Now to be fair, this isn’t exactly a radically new concept, as an excellent time-travel mission from Dishonored 2 “A Crack in the Slab” featured some groundbreaking on the fly world switching, that changed the environment around you based on where you were at the press of a button. Still, it’s great to be seeing something like The Medium utilizing a similar approach to a world like theirs.

Silent Hill similarities don’t end there, as the game is composed by the legendary series composer Akira Yamaoka himself who will provide a dual score to the game, that also changes based on the world that inhibits around you. In-fact, by pre-ordering the game via Steam actually nets you a digital copy of the score as well. The Medium itself will be available for the PC and Xbox Series X sometimes this Christmas period.
