Ryu ga Gotoku Studio chief Daisuke Sato has expressed that he’d love to see Yakuza spin-offs Ishin and Kenzan remade for a western release.

Yakuza Kenzan originally released for the PS3 in 2008 and Yakuza Ishin for PS3 and PS4 in 2014.  However, the two critically acclaimed spin-offs have only released in the east and fans in the west have longed for release on our shores.

Sato was speaking during an interview with JPGames.de and revealed that he’d love to see the two titles westernised so that all fans can enjoy the games.

In my opinion, the action is one of the best in the series, so I’d like to localize them if we get the chance. However, the game is also close to 7 years old, so we may need to put in additional work to remake it instead of a simple port, so the decision is a bit more complicated.”

If Yakuza Kenzan and Inshin released on our shores (and I really hope that they do), it’s likely that they’ll release on PS4, PS5, and the Xbox consoles, with a PC release likely to follow.  But I’m getting way ahead of myself right now.

Talk of these releases is nothing new and speculation has been circulating for years, but let’s hope that it happens one day soon.
