Finally after years of rumours and speculation, Sony has officially announced that the feature to change your PSN ID on PS4 is on the way.  The PSN Online ID Change feature will first go into a beta stage with the participants being selected at random from those that are already in the PlayStation Preview Program.  So if you’ve been beta testing the PS4 dashboard features recently, you stand a chance of being selected.

The beta invites will begin to roll out soon with it concluding at around the end of November.  Then it is planned for the feature to officially launch sometime during early 2019 to the public.  During the preview (and I assume when it launches to the public), the first change will be free and after that t will cost £7.99/€9.99/$9.99 per name change for non-PS+ subscribers, but for those that subscribe to PS+ it will cost £3.99/€4.99/$4.99.  The PSN ID’s can be changed either through the settings menu or via your PS4 profile page.

When you have chosen your preferred new name, you can also have the option to display your previous ID, however, whether or not you chose to display your previous ID with the new one, this cannot be changed once confirmed.  If for whatever reason you decide that you don’t like your new choice of ID, you can revert back to the old ID, but you can only do this once during the beta stage.

It must also be noted that not all games will be compatible with the PSN ID name change at launch, especially for some PS3 and PS Vita titles.  However, games that released after April 1st 2018 for PS4 will be compatible, and “a large majority of the most played PS4 games” released before that date will also be compatible.

So there you have it, soon we will all be able to change our PSN ID’s finally!  So if your ID is xxx SWeAtYTeAbAGcrAcKxx, then you’re in luck!
