Demon’s Souls Dev, Bluepoint Games Is Now A First-Party PlayStation Studio
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Bluepoint Games has now become a first-party studio. Rejoice!
Despite only just becoming a first-party Sony studio, Bluepoint Games has a rich history with the company. The studio’s first game was a somewhat unknown title called Blast Factor for the PS3 in 2006.

Bluepoint Games would then go on to remaster the God of War Collection (PS3/PS Vita) in 2009, and The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection in 2011 (PS3). The studio would later go on to port the remasters of the Uncharted series in 2015 with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for PS4.
“Bluepoint Games has been an incredible partner to work with over the years, and the craftsmanship they’ve demonstrated on past projects is impeccable,” said Jim Ryan, President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment. “The addition of Bluepoint to PlayStation Studios further demonstrates our continued focus on investing in and fostering creative teams we’re confident will deliver world-class gaming experiences for our fans.”

Bluepoint Games has also dabbled with remasters on other formats with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which was released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
However, Bluepoint Games perhaps reached the pinnacle of the achievements, developing a full remake of Shadow of the Colossus for PS4 in 2018, before remaking Demon’s Souls for PS5 in 2020.
“There is a long history of trust between Bluepoint and SIE,” said Marco Thrush, President, Bluepoint Games. “Our first game, Blast Factor, was a PS3 launch title, and our most recent title, Demon’s Souls was ready to provide a challenge for the PS5 launch crowd. We share the same values and we’re equally committed to creating great new games. Joining PlayStation Studios will empower our team of highly talented and passionate creators to take the quality bar even higher and undertake more ambitious projects while retaining our company culture and identity.”
