Polyphony Digital has finally released a new patch that increases the Credit pay-out following the recent controversy.

By now, I think most of us know of the absolute crapshow that has been Gran Turismo 7 post-launch. But just in case, here’s a quick recap. First microtransactions after reviews went live.

Then they decrease pay-outs from events, making the game more grindy. They also went back on a promise of being able to sell our cars in-game. Fans of the series believed that these changes were made to push players into spending more real-world money via microtransactions.

Furthermore, following a massive fan backlash, Gran Turismo 7 was review bombed on Metacritic, making it Sony’s lowest-scoring game of all time. Then after all the crap had hit the fan, Polyphony Digital made a proper apology and promised to fix the game.

Well, the first step to reverting Gran Turismo 7 has been made with the latest patch for PS4 and PS5. The patch makes loads of changes, however, more notably, the in-game rewards have now been fixed. Rejoice.

The Credits cap has also been increased, resulting in players now being able to save up to 100 million, meaning that it’s easier to save up for those expensive cars. Additionally, the Credit reward has also been increased to 1.2 million Credits for endurance races.

It’s worth noting that further updates will be released in the coming weeks, including being able to sell our unwanted cars. Happy days. You can read the full patch notes here.

All this controversy is a shame because GT7 is a really good racing game. In my Gran Turismo 7 review, I said: “Gran Turismo 7 is simply a sublime experience and is as close to racing perfection as it’s going to get.
