Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores is still out next month
Despite its silence since its announcement last month, developers Guerilla Games remind us that Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is still out next month.
Since its reveal last year, we’ve not seen anything else about the upcoming expansion Burning Shores. However, despite not getting any new gameplay, the game’s director, Mathijs de Jonge insists that the PS5 exclusive content is still arriving on 19 April.
We’re thrilled to announce Burning Shores, our expansion to Horizon Forbidden West which sees Aloy pursue a sinister threat in the untamed wilds of Los Angeles, now a treacherous volcanic archipelago.
Coming to PlayStation 5 on 19 April 2023.

Many Horizon fans were left disappointed that the expansion isn’t coming to PS4 and de Jonge explained why it’s only coming to PS5.
“The cityscape ruins of LA and its surroundings are highly detailed and require a lot of processing power as well as fast streaming technology to run properly – especially when the player is flying over the lands and can see a lot at once,” de Jonge said on the PS Blog. “One of the settlements is situated in and around those detailed ruins, and we were able to squeeze a lot of activity in there.”
In my review of Horizon Forbidden West, I said it’s a must-have for PlayStation.
