Wrestling on the go? Sign me up as WWE 2K18 is coming to Nintendo Switch!

When WWE 2K18 was announced, it was only coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the last-gen systems being dropped.  I think it was safe to assume, that while many gamers would have surely been disappointed, no one really expected it to be announced for the Nintendo Switch shortly after its announcement.  Well, thankfully 2K Games has announced that WWE 2K18 will in-fact be coming to the Switch, the first time a WWE game has been available on a Nintendo system in five years.

From what I can tell via the official press release, graphics and perhaps framerate aside, the Nintendo Switch version will have the same modes and features as its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, including MyCareer, the Creation Suite and an equally large roster.  I’ve asked the 2K PR to clarify on this and if there’s any difference, I’ll update this article.

I do know however that the Switch version will release later then the PS4 and Xbox One versions.  While WWE 2K18 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on October 17th (the 13th for those that pre-order the premium editions of the game), the Switch version is penned in for a “Fall” release, so expect it to release close to Christmas.

Being a lifelong WWE fan, I never miss a release of its videogame franchise, but also being a Switch owner, I’m very tempted to pick WWE 2K18 on the PS4 and Switch, because playing a WWE 2K game on the go is a massive appeal that no other system simply cannot offer.

Hopefully with 3rd party companies such as EA, Bethesda and now 2K supporting the Switch, more publishers might also start showing their support for Nintendo’s newest system.  To mark the Switch announcement, 2K has released a trailer featuring its cover star, Seth “Freakin” Rollins; you can that very trailer below.

Just recently, 2K Games outlined some of the improvements that will be made to WWE 2K18; you can read up on those details here.
