Yakuza Inshin Under Consideration by Sega for Western Release #Gamescom2019

Back in 2014, I covered a story on Yakuza Inshin releasing in a Japan, a spin-off to the mainline Yakuza series based in the mid-1800’s, during the Bakumatsu period.  Back then I described it as a “game that most of us will never play” and that we shouldn’t “hold your breath” for a release on our shores.  This is a bloody good job, because if we’d all held our breath, we’d be dead of suffocation by now.

Well, after speaking to IGN, Sega Producer Daisuke Sato, when questioned whether Yakuza: Inshin will ever release in the west, he stated that it is “under consideration” and their reason of hesitation as to why it hasn’t released over here yet, is that “they are not sure if the setting would appeal to the western audience.”

Seriously, I would have understood their doubts six years ago maybe, but now?  The world is starting to understanding how great the Yakuza series is and in my humble opinion, there’s no better time to release Yakuza: Inshin over in the west.  Plus, Japanese influenced games, especially those that have an historic and/or samurai theme, are taking off over here.  Just look at the success of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Nioh, not to mention the hype of forthcoming PS4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima.

So Sega, erase those doubts and give us Yakuza: Inshin already, please.
