In 2019 when the Ghostbusters released Planet Coaster for PC, I was somewhat jealous.  For starters, I couldn’t play Planet Coaster as I didn’t have a gaming PC, and on top of that Ghostbusters is my favourite movie of all time.  Thankfully, Planet Coaster: Console Edition arrived in 2020, and finally, the Ghostbusters DLC is now available, along with the Studio Pack.

The moment you request to play Ghostbusters from the main menu of Planet Coaster you are greeted with the iconic theme from Ray Parker Jr, which will give fans an instant feeling of nostalgic vibes.

The Ghostbusters DLC gives you everything you need to build your very own ghost-busting-themed park with landmarks, characters, and more from the 1984 movie.  We have the Ghostbusters HQ, The Temple of Gozer, Ecto-1, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Slimer, and more.

You will be provided tasks and story-driven missions from the likes of Ray Stantz and Walter Peck, voiced by Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton respectively.  Sadly, however, there are no other actors from the movies that lend their talents, which is a minor blow.

If you’re used to Planet Coaster, then you’ll know it’s not just about building your dream theme park to let the money roll in.  You’ll have to implement and develop rides that will keep your guests entertained.  You’ll also have to maintain the park, run a productive workforce, and more.

Once you’ve got everything in motion, running your park will soon become second nature and then you’ll truly see the theme park of your dreams come to life.  For me personally, Ghostbusters would quite literally be that very theme park of my dreams.

Once you’ve got your park set up ready to go, what kind of Ghostbusters rides can your virtual guests get to experience?  For starters, they’ll have a Rollercoaster based upon everyone’s favourite greedy ghost, Slimer.

Then there’s The Ghostbusters Experience where your guests can visit iconic locations from the movie and bust some ghosts to score points and claim the top spot on the leaderboard.  Oh, and your guests can also ride around in the Ecto-1, how cool is that?

All in all, the Ghostbusters DLC is a lot of fun.  If you’re already familiar with Planet Coaster, then you’ll pretty much know what to expect.  However, with this DLC, you’ll get to build the Ghostbuster theme park of your dreams, which is the main selling point alone.  If you love Planet Coaster and Ghostbusters, what else is there to say?

Released alongside the Ghostbusters DLC is the Studios Pack.  Have you ever wanted extra tools to build your very own version of Universal Studios in Planet Coaster?  Well, the Studios Pack allows you to do just that.

Build the Hollywood movie set of your dreams!  Whether it’s a high noon showdown, an explosive blockbuster, or a horror movie of your nightmares, the Studios Pack helps to set you on your way.

Create your very own backlot Hollywood experience with the Big Screen Tour.  Take your visitors into the silver screen and beyond into space, escape a towering inferno, escape the jaws of a great white shark, walk the red carpet, and more.

You can even scare your guests to near death with the spectacle that is Horror Heights or take them on a sci-fi journey with the Re-Motion simulation ride.  It has to be said that the biggest selling point of the Studio Pack is all the extra tools that you have at your disposal.

The Studios Pack will not only bring three new rides but also 400 pieces of scenery, nearly 100 new blueprints, building sets, guest facilities, and much more.  Basically with the Studios Pack, if you dream it, you can pretty much build the Hollywood-inspired theme park you’ve always dreamed of.

All in all, for a launch price of £11.99 for the Ghostbusters DLC and £7.99 for the Studios Pack, you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck offering a decent amount of value with each.  If you can hold out, you’ll get even more value for when the discounts inevitably arrive.  That said, whether you buy now or hold out, I doubt you’ll have many regrets adding the value of the Ghostbusters and Studio Pack DLC to your Plane Coaster: Console Edition experience.

The Planet Coaster: Console Edition DLC is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.  You can read my full review of Planet Coaster: Console Edition here.
