The Crazies (Movie Review)

The Crazies might as well be the American version of 28 Days Later.  The infected aren’t exactly zombies.  They are just that: Infected.  Not dead or anything, but just alive with a crazy virus. At least that’s what the movie implied.

After a military biological weapon accidentally crash lands into a local town’s water source, people start going crazy(if you haven’t noticed already, I will be using crazy a lot). Some of the locals manage to dodge the infection and stay normal human beings, but the rest of the people are infected. Crazy, blood-hungry animals looking to kill whatever moves and breathes.  The military flies in to try to contain the virus. They kill as many of the Crazies as they can while trying to round up the survivors.  Eventually, the hero of this movie(Timothy Olyphant, apparently) is torn apart from his wife(Radha Mitchell). The military believes she is one of the Crazies when she really is not.  Well, not on Olyphant’s watch!  The rest of the movie is basically you watching Olyphant’s character make his way back to his wife.  You get a few jumps here and there, the typical idiots in the movie doing things you know you would do the opposite of, and the brutality the Crazies. Typical zombie horror movie.  But that’s what I like about the Crazies.  It’s the typical˜zombie movie. It’s not a below-average, half-assed piece of rubbish Hollywood spewed out. It’s actually a good˜zombie movie.
