This holiday season is going to be chock full of shooters, but one in particular is getting me excited – 007 Legends. Consisting of 6 missions (This years Skyfall and 5 classic films), Legends takes Daniel Craig into updated renditions of stories from Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Lazenby. Earlier in the year Moonraker was confirmed as the Moore entry (much to my bemusement), and then came the announcement that Lazenby’s only outing, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, would also be included.

This week at Gamescom the Brosnan and Dalton entries have been disclosed by a new trailer – Die Another Day and License to Kill.

Yes, the film that had the invisible Aston, the diamond based space laser and a bedazzled North Korean fond of mounting miniguns to Jaguars is being included in a game based around Daniel Craig s more down to Earth rendition of Britain’s best know super spy. While some scenes seem perfect for a first person shooter (the Korean DMZ fire fight culminating in a hovercraft chase for instance) the overall tone of the film might cause it to stick out a little bit with Craig s more serious portrayal. One the bright side though this also included the reveal that driving sections will be included with the on ice showdown shown off in the trailer.

License to Kill on the other hand seems to be a perfect fit for the modern day Bond. After the death of Felix Lighter, Bond ends up going rouge to track down his friend’s killer, a drug lord, and involves a fantastic tanker chase, with a fist fight promised to be included on top of one of these trucks. The film itself was dark and serious, as was Dalton’s run as the character overall, but I still would have preferred The Living Daylights, the opening training sequence resulting in the death of a double-0, the assault on an Afghan airfield, having to bail out the back of a C-130 in a Jeep, it would have been perfect for a modern day update, but alas…

Overall the game is looking great, though now the big question remains – Which of Sean Connery’s films will be included. Goldfinger (Undoubtedly the best Bond film) because its Goldfinger, Thunderball with its tale of stolen nuclear weapons, You Only Live Twice and its gyrocopter combat and Volcano Lair, or Diamonds are Forever because Moonraker and Die Another Day haven’t made things silly enough already. Any idea, hopes or dreams? Let us know!
