Yes, you read the headline right, with certain titles that are available on both of Sony’s current pieces of hardware you will be able to own both copies for the price of one.

Quite frankly this is a brilliant move, and shows that Sony is really trying to please its fans (either that or it doesn’t want to admit the Vita isn’t exactly doing well, but let’s stay positive)> The focus of the announcement was on being able to play your games anywhere, rather than being tied down to a console. This would suggest that the titles that use “Cross-Buy” have some sort of feature similar to MGS Vita’s Transfarring, a system where the two versions share a singular game save, allowing you to take your progress on your travels.

Now about those titles-  So far announced to be “Cross-Buy” bundles are PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time and Ratchet and Clank Q Force. Yes Ratchet has a Vita version and yes you can have it free.

Though it isn’t the first time that this has been a feature, as this week’s PS Store update (last week in the US) sees the release of Sound Shapes, a fun looking music based platformer, that comes with both a PS3 and Vita version.

Let’s hope more titles are bundled together this way, for example Zone of the Enders HD Collection when its released, because quite frankly I’m going to buy as many versions of that as possible, and I would really appreciate it if I could save some money while doing so.
