The newest instalment to Nintendo’s handhelds has just got bigger and with slight improvements.

Nintendo DSi XL has already been launched amongst the Japanese population. Now us British and Europeans get to enjoy the XL screens on Friday the 5th March 2010.

Now lets get down to the technical side of the DSi XL. Just in case you haven’t already got from the name of the console, XL here means it is slightly bigger than the original DSi and Ds Lite. The screens of the Nintendo DSi XL are 93 % wider than the DS Lite screens with a  wider viewing angled screen which enables you to share your game play with friends and family whilst keeping a much clearer image. In the UK the handheld is coming in two colours which makes you think “Why these colours?”. Well that’s definitely what’s going through our minds. Nintendo I guess have gone for a more mature colour scheme and gone with wine red and dark brown, with a glossy, shiny sheen finish.

The colour choice might not be what most gamers would have expected due to the standard White and Black DSi & Lite colours but Nintendo have also been kind enough to give added extras to the console. The handheld comes with Pre-loaded DSiWare software with Kawashima’s Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function, as well as the Nintendo DSi Browser.

Of course if you would like to compare the DSi Xl to the DSi then click here for the official Nintendo DSi XL website.
