It’s been a while since I’ve really heard anything on this quirky action adventure/RPG.

After previewing the game back in 2016 I wasn’t massively impressed how the gameplay was looking, but thankfully after around three years this new trailer release has piqued the interest once more.

Briefly, the game sees you “the wanderer” awake with no memories of your past. There are portals to other worlds in “the void”, which you must travel – discovering what happened to these worlds and also your own past/destiny.

What this leads to is an amalgamation of inspiration, from the likes of Dark Souls, Legacy of Kain, and even Shadow of the Colossus.

Boss fights are boasted as being tough encounters, and its 2.5D and 3D switching angles leads to some interesting looking platforming and combat presentations.

The new trailer shows off some of the environments you’ll travel and enemies you’ll fight, and you can definitely see some of the influences they’ve listed.

The world looks dark and oh so very mysterious, and if you read some of the backstory from the game’s original Kickstarter page, this exemplifies the curious lore of the game.

It’s good to see the game is still kicking, and looking markedly more impressive than it did originally.

Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King is releasing in Early Access first, but will aim for a full release by the end of 2019. You can jump into the game’s Early Access on the 4th of June on PC.
