The curious new horror title from Wales Interactive, Maid of Sker, while having been penned for release early June, has been given a new release month of July.

The reason for this short delay according to game director Richard Pring is to “enable Maid of Sker to launch simultaneously across digital and physical platforms, whilst also allowing for the team to fine-tune the macabre horror”.

Fine tuning is never a bad thing and it only makes it more convenient to release across physical and digital simultaneously, so the announcement should be no skin off anyone’s back (even if you are that impatient).

The game look like an interesting one for horror fans to look out for, with its narrative inspired by Welsh folklore – set in 1898 in the “notoriously macabre Sker Hotel”.

Gameplay-wise this looks to be an Outlast type deal, though perhaps with more strings attached: “use your time wisely as you navigate the halls and grounds, employing no-weapon survival tactics and relying on your ability in keeping quiet to keep breathing”.

Either way, it’s coming soon to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch, and will hopefully turn out to be a good spooky adventure.
