When speaking with Famitsu, producers of Resident Evil (8) Village, Tsuyoshi Kanda and Pete Fabiano (translated by Alex Aniel), revealed that next year’s release will wrap-up the story of Resident Evil 7 and that of its protagonist Ethan Winters.

Additional information was also revealed and according to the interview, Resident Evil Village has been in development for around three and a half years, and its development is roughly 60% complete, so it should be well on track to release early next year.  It was also revealed that at some point during the game, the player would be given a choice of either saving Ethan’s wife, Mia or another character in the game.  Depending on what choice you make, it will apparently result in “some striking differences.”  It’s been a while since we’ve had multiple choices in this series and some fans were left disappointed, when this feature was removed from the Resident Evil 3 remake.

Interestingly, the producers also describe the village in which the game is set as “another protagonist”, so it will be intriguing to see how that aspect plays out.  Resident Evil Village is also said to see the return on puzzle solving and an emphasis on inventory management.  It was also revealed that due to the game being developed exclusively for next-gen, it meant that they could make loading times, pretty much none existent.

Oh and before we go, I was looking through some of my old Resident Evil art books and graphic novels over the weekend, and I discovered that Werewolves did already exist in the lore, as seen in tweet below.  Some fans have made a fuss in regards to Werewolves being featured in the next game, so I was happy to see that Werewolves featured in a graphic novel which was published as far back as 1999, which also features Vampire bats in its story!

Resident Evil Village will release next year for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
