Despite a little while again claiming that Star Wars: Squadrons will not be getting any post-launch content we are about to get our second and third batch of free DLC.

Arriving next week on November 25th will be update 3.0 and with it will come a new map and new components for your ships.

The new map arriving this month is Fostar Haven which you may recognise from the prologue mission of the single player campaign.  In the Fostar Haven multiplayer map you will be able to play Fleet Battles and Dogfight modes.

Fostar Haven is: “Set in a remote, lawless area of space under the light of twin stars, this map has been updated from its story mode counterpart to provide a new experience that should fit well with the other six maps.

The new components means that both the Fighter and Bomber ships will be able to equip the Boost Extension Kit which provides your starfighter a full boost which recharges to be used again.  This boost will either give the player a power boost to benefit your team or help you quickly escape tight spots.

Interceptor and Fighter ships will be provided with Ion Rockets which have the ability to quickly bring down enemy shields for team members to launch a barrage that can turn the tide of the battle.  The Ion Rockets can also be used at the same time as other non-ion components for devastating combos.

Bombers and Fighters will be gifted with the Prototype Piercing Torpedoes.  These rockets may have less power than some other rockets but they have the ability to bypass capital ships and flagship shields.

Finally in the November update the U-Wing and the TIE Reaper will be getting the Anti-Material Rocket Turret.  While this turret doesn’t target enemy Starfighters, however when on-target it can be very effective against flagship subsystems, capital ships, turrets and deployables from enemy support ships.

In December with update 4.0 we’ll be getting two new Starfighters and custom matches.

The two new Starfighters arriving this December is the B-Wing for the New Republic and the TIE Defender for the Galactic Empire.

These two Starfighters are as powerful as they are iconic, though understandably balanced out for the purposes of the game”. EA said in a blog post.  “The B-wing will be categorized as a Bomber-class starfighter and the TIE defender will be a Fighter, each being able to use the components relevant to their faction and class, but they’ll also come with their own unique aspects in line with what you’d expect from them, such as the B-wing with its gyro-cockpit and swivelling wings and the TIE defender with its shields.

Finally with the December update we’ll get the aforementioned custom matches.

In custom matches you’ll be able to pit five players across two opposing teams to battle it out against each other across any of the seven currently available maps and the two current modes (Fleet Battles & Dogfight).

Custom matches will also allow modifiers such as hull, shield and damage modifiers as well as being able to change capital ship health, placing restrictions on Starfighters and various other tools.  Custom matches will also offer browsers which allow you to search for friends custom matches as well as public matches.

That concludes the highlights of the two forthcoming updates arriving this month and in December.  You can also check out the blog post detailing the updates here.
