Ubisoft has announced the co-op multiplayer for Watch Dogs: Legion has been delayed into 2021.

The news was announced via an Ubisoft blog post confirming the news.  Initially the multiplayer for Watch Dogs: Legion was set to launch in December, but it will instead now release “early 2021”.

In the Watch Dogs: Legion multiplayer you can play with up-to three other players to complete co-op missions and objectives or just explore the open-city of London causing utter mayhem.

The reason for the delay was so that the developers could focus on fixing the reported issues in the single player campaign.  On the blog post it read:

As part of our commitment to fixing the game’s issues, we’ve decided to delay the Online mode of Watch Dogs: Legion to early 2021,” said Ubisoft in a blog post.

This will allow us to focus on fixing issues with single players, and it will give us more time to test the Online experience to help ensure a smooth launch of the mode.

Since the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion, some of you continue to have technical issues preventing you from enjoying the game,

The dev team is committed to fixing these issues and will not stop until everyone can experience the game as intended.

However it does state in the post that update 2.20 will go live by next week which will fix bugs and improve stability, it will also add a Save Button for PC.

One of the reported issues for the PC version of the game was the stuttering framerate and Ubisoft aims to fix that issue by making the game achieve a “consistent 60FPS for higher end GPUs.”  You can check out the full patch notes here.
