It was announced at the Nintendo Direct that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is coming to the Nintendo Switch

The original Skyward Sword released for the Nintendo Wii in 2011 and with it being the last original Legend of Zelda game prior to Breath of the Wild, many of its features made its way into BOTW.

The new version of Skyward Sword will have improved visuals and a performance at 60fps on the Nintendo Switch, as well as modernised controls.

One Joy-Con can be used to control the sword, while the other can be used to control the shield.  However both of the Joy-Cons will also be used for weapons such as the Bow & Arrow as well as other gameplay mechanics.

The right analogue stick will also give you full control of Link’s sword to give you added freedom while you’re slicing and dicing.

If you’re not a fan of motion controls, then fear not because you’ll also be able to play Skyward Sword HD the conventional way and it will be fully compatible with the Switch Lite.

Along with the announcement of Skyward Sword HD was a rather snazzy limited edition Joy-Con set.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will swoop on to the Nintendo Switch on July 16th this year.

In other The Legend of Zelda related news it was also announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be getting an Expansion Pass.

The Expansion Pass will release in two waves.  The first wave will begin in June and will include an expanded roster, new enemies, weapons and challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab.

Wave two will begin in November and will include new character vignettes, new stages, an expanded roster and new battle skills for existing characters.

By purchasing the Expansion Pass players will also get a bonus weapon and costume for Link.  The Expansion Pass is available to buy now from the Nintendo eShop for £17.99/€19.99/$19.99.

The developers that featured on the Nintendo Direct also promised further details on Breath of the Wild 2 later in the year.
