Pokemon Legends: Arceus was announced at the Pokemon Direct last week.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an all-new open-world Pokemon game set in the Sinnoh region which is set to release for the Nintendo Switch next year.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus seems to be set in a feudal Sinnoh region and almost feels like it could be a prequel of sorts to the Pokemon gaming series.

As already stated, Sinnoh will be open-world which appears to be free for your trainer to explore as you please.

Judging from the gameplay trailer, catching wild Pokemon will not always involve battling them, as you can simply throw your ball at them to make the catch.  However, the game will of course feature Pokemon battling.

Interestingly, it also looks like you can sneak up on wild Pokemon to make the catch, so it might not always just be the case of throwing the ball at them to capture.

The starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will not however be from the Sinnoh region.  Cyndaquil is from Johto, Oshawott from Unova, and Rowlet from Alola.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will also break tradition and will also be released as one game and not in two separate installments launching simultaneously.

As the name of the game suggests, the main Pokemon of this story is the god-like Arceus who is also known as “The Original One” and is said to not only be the creator of the Sinnoh and Ransei regions but the entire Pokemon universe.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will release for the Nintendo Switch in early 2022.
