You Won’t Need to Rebuy Classic PlayStation Games Even Without PS Plus
This week Sony revealed added details for the revised PlayStation Plus subscription service, details can be found here.
Amongst those details was information regarding “select” PlayStation classic titles for PS1, and PSP games. However, Sony revealed in a PlayStation Blog post that if you had already bought any of the classic PS1 or PSP games included in PS Plus Premium, you can download them to your PS4 and PS4 at no extra cost.
More games revealed for the all-new PlayStation Plus, launching soon.
Includes blockbuster hits like Demon’s Souls and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and classics like Ape Escape and Syphon Filter. Full details: https://t.co/BOJBIn5zLg pic.twitter.com/XGsBukXwFp

So, if you had brought classic PS1 or PSP titles on past platforms via PS3, PSP or PS Vita, you can redownload them without having to pay an extra penny. Better still, you can download your previously purchased classics on the newer consoles even if you don’t subscribe to PS Plus.
The classic titles being played on the new consoles will take advantage of HD visuals, improved framerate and in some cases, an improved user interface.
While the line-up is fairly small at this time, the line-up will increase vastly over time. So I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that the original Resident Evil trilogy, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid and the OG Tomb Raider games will appear.
