Fossil Echo is a gorgeous looking 2D adventure platformer, designed and produced by a 2-man French indie development team, with music orchestrated by John Matz (Gunpoint). Follow the journey of a young boy as he goes to climb a giant tower in the middle of the sea – find out why and how he got there by playing through flashbacks during his ascent.

Inspiration for the game is taken from the Oddworld series, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, while also drawing in aspects from Studio Ghibli films. Gameplay sounds fairly unforgiving, with your character being called “weak” and needing to use skill and timing to avoid as much combat as possible, while platforming up the tower. A release date has not been officially announced yet as it’s currently waiting to be Greenlit on Steam, but they are hoping for an end of the year 2014/early 2015 release – though I imagine it will be the latter.
