The Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been officially announced and it will be coming to PS4 and PS5.

On PS5 the Director’s Cut will come with the visual, performance, and loading improvements that one would expect from a next-gen title.

In terms of other features, the Director’s Cut will take advantage of 3D Audio, and the Haptic feedback and Adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller.

Other improvements will be made to the lip-sync quality of the game, with the Japanese voice-over.

The Director’s Cut will also come with a new expansion which will take place on Iki Island. This will be an all-new story and will be playable from the beginning of Act 2 in the campaign.

According to the PlayStation Blog, on Iki Island: “Jin travels to the island to investigate rumours of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.

If you’re moving from PS4 to PS5, then your progress will carry over by transferring your data. However, there will be no free next-gen upgrade. Instead, you’ll have to pay for that privilege.

If you own the game on PS4, you can upgrade to the Director’s Cut with the extra content for $19.99. If you bought the Director’s Cut on PS4 and upgraded to PS5 it will cost $9.99. If you own the base game on PS4 it will cost $29.99 to upgrade to the Director’s Cut on PS5.

To buy the game outright, the Director’s Cut costs £69.99/$69.99 on PS5, and £59.99/$59.99 on PS4.

Finally, to launch alongside the Director’s Cut will be a free update for all on PS4 and PS5. The update will add the ability to finally lock-on to an enemy during combat, hide your quiver during gameplay, new accessibility options for alternative controller layouts, and more. There’ll also be some new content for the multiplayer Legends mode.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released for PS4 and PS5 on August 20th this year.
