Despite the recent radio silence, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics insist that the Spider-Man DLC is coming to Marvel’s Avengers this year.

Prior to the release of Marvel’s Avengers in 2020, Square Enix announced that Spider-Man will be coming to the game early 2021. This content would also be exclusive to PlayStation, which quite rightly didn’t sit well with PC and Xbox players.

However, that content was delayed with no release date. Since its delay, we have practically had no further updates.

When speaking to Screen Rant, Scott Walters, the senior game designer of Marvel’s Avengers stated that the Spider-Man content is still arriving in 2021.

In terms of what we can say now, we’ve always scheduled and looked to bring Spider-Man out in 2021 for PlayStation owners. That is still on track, so we’ll have more announcements later on this year,” claimed Walters.

I’d like to believe that the Spider-Man content will arrive this year, but as we know video game development is a complicated business and multiple delays are always likely. Until the free Spider-Man content arrives, at least we have the Black Panther expansion “War for Wakanda” out today to keep us busy.

Do you think that the Spider-Man content will still be released this year? Let us know across our social media channels.
