As we enter week 3 of the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, we will see a Stronghold mode being added to the roster in preparation for its final week.  Stronghold will feature three control zones and teams must dominate that zone from the enemy to win, in all fairness it sounds similar to the Domination mode (or variations of) that you might find in other competitive multiplayer shooters.  Once a team secures domination on a particular zone, the winning team must then score 100 points to win.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this beta, is that teamwork is absolute key.  So teams would really have to strategise if you want to continue control of the three zones to win the match.  Stronghold will be playable on the Regret and Empire multiplayer maps.

If that wasn’t enough good news for you, then a new map will also be added, as well the Rocket Launcher making its debut in the beta.  The new map in question is Pegasus which is a map “created with an early version of Forge customisation tools and voted into the beta by fans this past week.”  Below taken from the press release, is the information on Pegasus and the beta’s weaponry.

They’ve also loaded even more weapons – including the Sniper Rifle, Energy Sword and the legendary Prophet’s Bane making a return. Fan favourite, the Rocket Launcher, is also making its Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta debut. And as with weeks past, you will still be able to battle it out in Slayer mode on Truth, and Breakout mode – which was introduced in week 2 – returns on the Crossfire and Trench maps.

Pegasus, the winner of the fan vote over Orion, features long sightlines, perfect for marksman weapons. Holding down the raised area with the Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher or Light Rifle gives a team excellent presence, and the ability to lock down huge swathes of the map. However, this spot is vulnerable to grenades and flanking routes that the opposing team should use to retake the high ground.

The sad news however, is that the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer ends on January 18th and then it’s the gruelling wait until Halo 5: Guardians releases for the Xbox One later this year.
