Update: Following yesterday’s article, a PlayStation PR has confirmed to fellow video games media website Push Square that both the God of War sequel and Gran Turismo 7 will release on PS4 as well as for PS5.

Sure we all expected as much, but it’s nice to get official confirmation nonetheless. Are you happy to get this official confirmation? Let us know across our social media channels.

Original Story: During a Q&A interview on the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst hinted that the sequel to the 2019 God of War and Gran Turismo 7 will be released on PS4.

In the same Q&A which confirmed that the God of War sequel won’t release until 2022, he also hinted that God of War and Gran Turismo 7 will be cross-gen titles.

Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.

While Hulst by no means outright confirms that the God of War sequel and Gran Turismo will release on PS4 as well as PS5, he pretty much all but says that they will. I’m sure now that Hulst has seemingly let the cat out of the bag, we might get the official confirmation we need during the upcoming State of Play.  Fingers crossed!

We already know that Horizon Forbidden West will be a cross-gen title on PS4 and PS5, but do you hope that the God of War sequel and Gran Turismo 7 will receive the same treatment? Let us know across our social media channels.
