According to a report from the ever-reliable Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, a pitch for a sequel to Days Gone was rejected by Sony.

Despite being somewhat of commercial success, Sony’s exclusive titles such as The Last of Us, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War (2018) set incredibly high standards for the PS4.

The standards were set so high for PS4 exclusive titles that even a solid game such as Days Gone might pale in comparison, and that was perhaps why Days Gone might not have been as well received by some.

However, many of those that played Days Gone would have fallen for its underdog charm, but in my opinion, it’s a fantastic game in its own right.  Sure the open-world, zombie post-apocalyptic genre has been done to death, but that shouldn’t go against Days Gone.

Days Gone is developed by Bend Studio and despite the moderate success, when Days Gone 2 was pitched to Sony, it was sadly rejected.

When I reviewed Days Gone in 2019, I said: “if you give this game a chance, you might just find that Days Gone is one of the most enjoyable and intense games you’ll play this year.
