The file size for Resident Evil Village for PlayStation 5 has leaked online and it’s surprisingly small.

In terms of size, scope, and from a technical standpoint, it would be reasonable to assume that Resident Evil Village might carry a rather large file size; however, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The Twitter account of PlayStation Game Size who acquires file size information from a number of Sony titles by digging out data from patches and pre-loads has revealed that the file size for RE7 Village is a mere 27.325GB without a day one patch.

Now that file size could increase at launch, after all, it is without a day one patch, but regardless it’s perhaps smaller than some of us may have expected.

To compare file sizes, Resident Evil 7 has a current file size of 40.54GB on PS4, while the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes come in at 26.63GB & 24.80GB respectively.

However these are PS4 file sizes and not PS5, so RE Village having a file size of 27.325GB is a little surprising, but a welcomed surprise nonetheless, especially as the next-gen storage space is quickly gobbled-up.

It’s also worth mentioning that Resident Evil Village on Xbox has an install size of over 50GB, which indicates to me that the PS5 file size may increase with a day one patch, but we shall see.

Resident Evil Village will release for PC, PS4, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 7th.
