Mario Kart 9 Is Reportedly In Development, Offers “Twist” On Series

According to reports, Mario Kart 9 is in development for the Nintendo Switch and offers a new “twist” on the series.

The reports come courtesy of Kantan Games’ Dr Serkan. In an article for GamesIndustry.biz, Serkan claimed that a new Mario Kart is currently in active development.

“I am aware Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on the Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (and comes with a new twist) and Nintendo could tease it this year.”

It’s been nearly five years since Mario Kart was released on the Nintendo Switch with MK8 Deluxe, which was originally a Nintendo Wii U game. So, we could argue that the Switch hasn’t had a new Mario Kart since the console launched in 2017.
