A report from Bloomberg’s  Jason Schreier has claimed that Naughty Dog is working on a remake of 2013s The Last of Us.

The Last of Us originally released for the PlayStation 3, before being remastered a year later for the PlayStation 4.  Personally, The Last of Us is easily one of my favourite video games of all time, and I’ve played it almost to death on both PS3 and PS4.

According to respected journalist Jason Schreier, the alleged remake of The Last of Us was to be handled by Sony’s unannounced San Diego studio.  However, Sony apparently made the decision to move the project back into the hands of series developers, Naughty Dog.

It may seem strange to remake a game that was only released eight years ago at the time of writing (April 11th, 2021), and then got a re-release on PS4.  But if these rumours are true, a full-on remake powered by the PS5 could be a very interesting concept nonetheless.

Obviously, at this time as reliable as Jason Schreier is most often proven to be, these reports are currently unconfirmed.  But should this remake happen, well, you can count me in!

The same report has also claimed that Naughty Dog is also working on a new Uncharted game, which would be awesome.  At this time we don’t know what this Uncharted game might be, but it wouldn’t surprise me if 2007s Drake’s Fortune might get a deserving remake.
