A new Resident Evil animated movie has been announced as it arrives this coming summer.

Resident Evil: Death Island will follow the events of the Netflix animated series, Infinite Darkness. The brief 30-second teaser trailer shows a zombie outbreak on Alcatraz Island, now a tourist location.

The trailer features plenty of zombie mayhem and stars of the series, Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield. However, at the very end of the trailer, we see Jill Valentine. So could we finally get to see Leon and Jill together on the screen (officially) for the first time? It certainly seems that way.

D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr Antonio Taylor from kidnappers when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit,” reads a synopsis in the video description.

Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.

Resident Evil: Death Island is distributed by Sony Pictures and it seems likely to be a digital/physical home release this summer.
