Sexy 20th Anniversary PS4 Limited Edition ‘PS1 Themed’ Console Revealed

 

It’s mad to think that Playstation is 20 years old today with the release of the original Playstation console way back in 1994.  So quite naturally Sony are celebrating their anniversary of this great milestone for the videogame industry.  To help get into the party sprit, Sony has released 20^th Anniversary themes on PSN for the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.  I’ve not seen the PS3 or PS Vita themes in action as of yet, but I can say that the PS4 theme is pretty awesome.  As upon firing up your PS4 console, you are greeted with that iconic PS1 load up noise.  Best of all, these themes are free and ready for you to download now.  There is also a special 20^th anniversary PSN sale happening right now, you can check out all the discounts here.

Now let’s get on to the star of this article and that is the downright sexy limited edition 20^th Anniversary PS4 console, which has been styled on the great PS1.  This limited edition PS4 sports “the same Original Grey finish as the original Playstation” and it will be “packaged in a commemorative box.” This console will be limited to 12,300 units worldwide (and is numbered) which is “reflecting the launch date of the original Playstation.”   It will sell at €499.99, so that could be anywhere between £380-£400.

 

According to the EU Playstation Blog, this limited edition console “will not be available via traditional retail channels in the SCCE (European) region.”  However,  the US Playstation Blog state that details will be announced this coming Saturday morning at 10am Pacific Time, which is around 6pm in the UK.

Hopefully if won’t be too difficult for us Europeans to get hold of this console, without having to make do with extortionate eBay prices
