Silent Hill is getting a new movie, inspired by SH2

It was revealed during the Transmission presentation that Silent Hill is getting a new movie.
It will be directed by Christophe Gans, the director of the Silent Hill movie from 2006. Oddly enough, the movie sequel wasn’t even mentioned. I wonder why?
Gans stated that this movie will be set 15 years after the first movie, but will be inspired by the Silent Hill 2 video game. The concept art storyboard showed familiar monsters, characters and settings.

The director was promised that there will be twists, especially for a movie that has time restrictions. However, Gans promised that this movie would be true to Silent Hill 2, but will be a modern adaptation of a movie.
