Following all the rumours, Naughty Dog has announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

Understandably, fans were concerned that this game was being milked, however, Naughty Dog has revealed a few additional features as well as an upgrade fee for those who already own The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4.

Firstly, let’s talk about price. The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be a full release with a maximum RRP at launch. That being said, unlike The Last of Us Part I, if you already own the original PS4 game, you’ll just have to pay £10/$10 for the upgrade should you decide to pick it up. What’s more, you will be able to transfer previous saves which includes all previously acquired Trophies including the Platinum.

So what else will The Last of Us Part II Remastered include? It includes a roguelike mode called ‘No Return’ and levels that were initially cut from the game dubbed ‘Lost Levels’. They’ll also be a Guitar Free Play mode. The roguelike mode will have randomised encounters with “unique twists”, multiple playable characters with unique skills, loadouts and global leaderboards.

Finally, the game will also benefit from enhanced DualSense features (improved haptic feedback and adaptive triggers compared to the free PS4 new-gen upgrade). All in all, if you own the original game, I think £10/$10 is looking like great value for the upgrade.

If you fancy picking up a snazzy physical edition, then The Last of Us Remastered II W.L.F Edition could be for you. This edition includes a steelbook case with the full game, as well as bonus DLC, 47 ‘Total Society of Champions Trading Cards which are physical versions of the hidden collectables, found in-game.

It also comes with a Washington Liberation Front (W.L.F) patch and a set of four Enamel Pins. The Last of Us Remastered II W.L.F Edition will be available exclusively via PlayStation Direct across multiple regions. Pre-orders for both the physical and digital versions will go live on 5 December.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be released for PlayStation 5 on 19 January 2023.
