IGN has grabbed the exclusive first look at the upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot, “Welcome to Raccoon City”.

Now, I like to think that I’m quite a positive person and I’ll often look for a positive, even if it’s something that I’m not overly impressed with. Being a big Resident Evil fan, I really want Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City to be at least a fun movie.

However, the first images which look to be taken directly from the movie itself, are a mixed bag, to say the least. Let’s begin with the positive.

One of the images features Lisa Trevor from the awesome Resident Evil remake which was first released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002. The photo of Lisa Trevor looks very authentic in her shackles and wearing the skin/face of her victims. The tragic Lisa Trevor looks every bit as tragic as her video game counterpart.

The second image features S.T.A.R.S members (from right to left); Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell), Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), Richard Aitken (Chad Rook), and Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper). They all look better than I thought they would, and they’re all fantastic actors. Though I am a little disappointed that there’s no Barry Burton in the photo.

The third and final picture is of Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia) and Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario). Now, I won’t hate, and I’ll be as kind as possible. But the moment I saw this photo, I instantly thought that it looked like a couple of cosplayers (and that’s not a knock on the fantastic cosplayers). In my humble opinion, at the moment they just don’t look the part. Though both actors are good at what they do, so I won’t be writing this movie off any time soon.

That all being said, I have more excitement for this movie than not. So, with a bit of luck, any concerns that I have will go once I get to watch the movie later in the year.

What are your thoughts on these images? Let us know across our social media channels. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City releases in US theatres on November 24th and December 3rd in the UK. The latter of which I am annoyed about, and I hope that regions outside of the US don’t have the movie spoiled.
