Even though the Metal Gear Solid movie is in early production, we know very little about it at this time, other than it’s directed by Kong: Skull Island director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts.  With the trend of videogame to movie adaptations such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog increasing in quality, there’s renewed hope that we might now get a high calibre of movies based upon our favourite videogames, and that also includes those TV series’ in the pipeline too, such as Resident Evil to Netflix and the recently announced Amazon Original, Fallout series.

However, with Vogt-Roberts being the passionate Metal Gear Solid fan that he is, he also wants to bring an animated series to the small screen and he wants the iconic voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter to reprise his role.  Don’t get me wrong, Kiefer Sutherland is one of my favourite actors and he did a great job in Metal Gear Solid 5, but no one quite sounds like Snake, better then Mr Hayter.

When speaking on Gary Whitta’s Twitch show, Vogt-Roberts revealed that he’s “trying to get an animated series going that brings back David Hayter” and not only that, but he also wants to bring back the original voice cast! So does that mean he wants Cam Clarke (Liquid Snake), Christopher Randolph (Otacon), Debie May West (Meryl), and Lori Alan (The Boss)? If this does happen, I’m sure that I won’t be the only Metal Gear Solid fan losing my mind with excitement.

Vogt-Roberts also revealed he’s been trying to get the Metal Gear Solid movie off the ground for a good six years and that it’s his “baby” and that he wants a movie and animated series to release in tandem, which is very ambitious to say the least, but I’m all for it.
