If you wanted some more Shenmue following the release of Shenmue III last year, then you’re in luck, because we’re getting an animated series!  In a partnership with Crunchyroll and Adult Swim, the 13-episode season is currently in production with series creator Yu Suzuki serving as an executive producer, and Chikara Sakaurai directing the project.

The Shenmue animated series will air on streaming service Crunchyroll outside of Japan and mainland China.  Personally I’ve always felt that Shenmue is perfect for an animated series, as well as a movie, so hopefully this series will do the franchise justice.

There is currently no release date for the Shenmue anime, but I’d expect it to release sometime next year.  Are you looking forward to this series?  Share your excitement (or lack of) across our social media channels?  You can also read our review of Shenmue III here.
