The Last of Us HBO TV series pulls in record numbers
This week, the highly anticipated The Last of Us TV series from HBO aired and not surprisingly, it pulled in record numbers.
As reported by Deadline, The Last of Us was watched by 4.7 million viewers in the US. This is the second-highest debut on HBO’s network since the utterly brilliant Boardwalk Empire in 2010. Boardwalk Empire garnered 4.81 million viewers when it debuted.

However, only the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of Dragon garnered more viewers with a whopping 9.986 million.
“Our focus was simply to make the best possible adaptation of this beloved story for as big an audience as we could,” Mazin and Druckmann told Deadline. “We are overjoyed to see how many fans, both old and new, have welcomed The Last of Us into their homes and their hearts.”
