Now I am sure a lot of you are restless as me, to get more information about the next Deus Ex game and why wouldn’t we be? Human Revolution was a very interesting and well made approach to the Deus Ex universe, with its cyberpunk location where transhumanism is a driving, albeit controversial issue.

Now the engineers of both Square Enix and AMD will get together to showcase what the groundbreaking TressFX will do for the brand new Dawn Engine. If you are not aware, TressFX is a hair simulation program that aims to accurately render and simulate hair particles. It is most popularly used in Square’s Tomb Raider reboot, although with a few issues, but the counterpart, Nvidia Hairworks was quite excellent in Far Cry 4.

This time, they aim to show you what the new and improved version can do, and how it will be a cornerstone in the development of the next Deus Ex entry, and while we may not get to see actual footage from the game itself, we will at least know what to expect from the technology it supports. Furthermore, according to the engineers:

“We show how Eidos graphics engineers built upon TressFX to break new grounds and deliver a realistic and scalable hair solution in the Dawn Engine for PC and consoles. With a focus on game requirements such as artistic control and animation support this talk will cover the practical considerations of a full TressFX pipeline, from authoring to rendering. In addition, for simulation, we address topics such as collisions, shape preservation, stretching, and wind. For rendering, we discuss how to blend strands with traditional hair meshes, antialiasing solutions, and translucency sorting techniques.”
