343 Industries Improves Halo Infinite Multiplayer Progression
343 Industries has improved the progression system for the free-to-play Halo Infinite multiplayer. Although it’s still not great in my opinion.
Announced by 343 Industries community manager John Junyszek. Along with XP rewards for the daily, weekly, and game challenges, players will also be rewarded with XP for the first 7 matches.
For the 1st match, you will earn 300 XP, 2nd and 3rd matches will earn you 200 XP, 4th, 5th, and 6th matches will earn you 100 XP, while the 7th match will earn you 50 XP.
1st Game = 300XP
2nd Game = 200XP
3rd Game = 200XP
4th Game = 100XP
5th Game = 100XP
6th Game = 100XP
7th+ Game = 50XPWe believe this increase will help address those slower initial payouts while also benefiting those of you jumping on each and every day.

In my opinion, it’s a start, though for me it would make more sense to start off with lower XP for your first matches and then have it increase the more you play over the 7 matches. I would have thought that would likely keep players online for longer spells. But it’s a start.
Unfortunately, if you were also hoping to see cheaters dealt with, you’ll be in for a long wait. Halo Infinite is a cross-play title on PC and Xbox. Sure, cheaters do exist on consoles, but it’s more prominent on PC.
There is an option to choose controller-only players in matchmaking settings to avoid PC players on keyboard and mouse, but it’s hidden away a little. I have encountered cheaters myself which resulted in players shooting me through walls. Community manager Junyszek has addressed calls to tackle cheaters and make the cross-play features more accessible. However, judging by his words on Twitter, it doesn’t seem like a priority for 343 Industries at the moment.
“Let’s talk about cheating! Unfortunately, cheating is a natural part of supporting a F2P PC game and it’s one we anticipated,” said Junyszek. “It’ll never go away entirely, but we’re prepared and committed to releasing consistent improvements to our game’s systems and taking action on bad actors.”

I’m having fun with the Halo Infinite multiplayer, in fact, it’s the first time that I’ve enjoyed an FPS online multiplayer in years. It’s far from perfect and the “beta” label feels like a copout in my opinion. Yes, the game will be updated, but 343 are confident to load the game with premium battle pass and microtransactions. So, it feels like a proper release to me.
