Now with just about any leak, I’d always say to take them with a pinch of salt.  However, seeing as the “leaked” listing is still appearing on the Microsoft Store, I’d say this is likely a deliberate act by publisher Activision, in collaboration with Microsoft.

On the Microsoft Store, there is a listing for “The Red Door”, which doesn’t exactly scream Call of Duty: Black Ops, but the more you look into it, the more it seems very likely.  The logo for The Red Door features a quite eerie red keyhole with a maze, which kind of reminds me of Stephan King’s The Shining.

The cryptic description for The Red Door reads “There is more than one truth. If you go looking for answers, be ready to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits, do you dare step through it?”  Additional information also details that the genre is a “Shooter”, it has an 18-age rating, it’s published by Activision and has a file size of 81.65GB.

Also this year, The Red Door has appeared on the PlayStation Store data base, which is no surprise, as the Call of Duty series is multi-format after all.  While the next Call of Duty is usually announced by now, Activision have been seemingly teasing the next Black Ops developed by Treyarch in the battle royale Warzone.  Just this month, leaked files were found in Warzone called “Ascension” with the numbers “7 15 1 2 19 7 25 6 13 6 7 15 14 0”.  This just so happen to be the exact numbers read by an unknown female character during the intro of 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, as heard in the video below.

Yet that it not all, because in the Ascension file is the term “Hell Hole” called Vorkuta, which was the slave labour camp/prison enforced by the Soviet Regime in Russia, during the 2010 Black Ops.  However, dataminers have also found mentions of Black Ops character Frank Woods, indicating that he could be a playable character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)/Warzone, which could also be a tease for the new Black Ops announcement.

To add one more piece of speculation that all but confirms that The Red Door is linked to a forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops announcement, the words “I see the Red Door” are lyrics used in the song “Paint it, Black” from The Rolling Stones, a song heavily connected to the Black Ops franchise.

I would say that while the Call of Duty: Black Ops announcement is near, likely with a beta, it remains to be seen as to whether the game will be cross-generation for PlayStation and Xbox, but we’ll no doubt know soon enough.
