With each and every release, we expect a sequel to be bigger and better than its predecessor. Sadly, that is always not the case.

However, when you’re talking about FromSoftware, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring and more, you expect a certain high degree of quality set by its own standards.

It’s been quite a while since we last had an Armored Core game, in fact, it’s been about 10 years with the last release arriving in 2013 with Verdict Day for the PS3 and Xbox 360. What’s more, this is also a long-running series with the first entry arriving all the way back in 1997 for the original PlayStation.

That being said, 10 years is a long time, especially when it’s been two generations later, so it’s only right to expect big things from Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, and big is most certainly the keyword here. According to a recent preview video from Fextralife, Armored Core VI is said to be roughly 50 to 60 hours long for a normal playthrough, which is roughly five times bigger than previous games in the series.

Push Square reports that most games in the series last for an average of 10 to 15 hours, whereas completionists can take up to 40 plus hours for Armored Core V. Thankfully, we won’t have long to find out how long it will take to beat Armored Core VI when it releases next month. Though for me, it will no doubt take longer than the average player.

Earlier this month, I got to spend a few hours with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and you can read my hands-on preview here for GAMINGbible.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be released on 25 August 2023 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
