Earlier this month Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released which starred Basim from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, set roughly 12 years prior to the Viking shenanigans.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes the series back to the 2007 roots a time in which there was more of an emphasis on stealth. Don’t get me wrong, after spending many hours with this game, stealth plays a larger role as does the smaller, confined map. However, you can certainly tell that this game started off as an expansion to Valhalla. Still, I’m having a lot of fun with it and appreciate its change of direction and it seems that I am not alone in sharing that sentiment.

Ubisoft announced on Twitter that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is celebrating the publisher’s biggest launch yet on new-gen consoles which includes the likes of multiplatform games the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6.

No doubt the smaller launch RRP of £44.99/$49.99 has played a big role in shifting copies, but make no mistake, this is a game that fans of the Assassin’s Creed series will likely appreciate. Plus the city of Baghdad during its Golden Age looks absolutely gorgeous.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
