Ubisoft has announced that the promising video game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will have a post-launch season pass. Shocking, I know.

It seems that most big-budget AAA games will be accompanied by either a season or battle pass, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be no exception. I’m not against season passes, per se, and I understand that its content is likely being worked on before the actual game is released. However, something often feels a little bit off when a season pass is announced, especially weeks ahead of the big launch.

To be fair, the story content in the season pass is still in development and it will consist of two expansions. The first expansion, The Sky Breaker will be released in the summer of 2024, while the second expansion, Secrets of the Spires will be released towards the end of 2024.

In the first expansion, offering a new region, we will “Face a mysterious shadow in The Sky Breaker story pack,” the official blurb explains. As for Secrets of the Spire you’ll be tasked with “epic aerial battles as you discover the secret of the new canyon region.” Additionally, by purchasing the season pass, you will also be gifted with the Familiar Echoes DLC pack which comes bundled with a few cosmetic items.

In my hands-on preview of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for GAMINGbible, I said: “The combat felt crisp, flying on an Ikran was awesome, the world looked gorgeous and the compelling soundtrack had all the hallmarks of a James Cameron movie.”

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released on 7 December for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
