BioWare Confirms New Mass Effect is in Development

To celebrate N7 Day over the week and to coincide with one of the worst kept secrets in the video game industry (that being the announcement of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition); BioWare has confirmed that a brand new Mass Effect game is in development.

BioWare chief Casey Hudson announced the news on a BioWare blog post revealing that the studio is working on the “next chapter of the Mass Effect universe” and that it is being created by a “veteran team”.

No other details were given, though they did treat us to some fancy concept art.  The image in question featured four silhouettes, one of which looked like a Salarian species, so that could very well be Mordin Solus, but that’s just speculation on my part.

In the backdrop of the concept art we can see what looks like a sun and moon at the front/centre, then on a right is a close-up of another planet.   The ship seen in the art work also reads “XT8”, so could this be the new Normandy?

At this time we have no idea when this new Mass Effect game will release or what it will be called.  Though I do hope that we see the return of some fan-favourite characters and it is likely that the release is at least 2 to 3 years away.
