Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gets New Warzone Areas, Maps and More in Season 5

Season 5 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone is available to download right now.  As you’d expect the update is very sizable, with it being 36GB on PS4, 49.8GB on Xbox One, while PC players will require a download of 54.2GB for those that own Modern Warfare or 47.4GB for those that just own Warzone.  However, Activision and Infinity Ward are working to ensure that all new updates reduce the file size of the game, starting with this one.

In the Season 5 update, the Battle Royale Warzone will get two new areas opened up with the stadium, which is a huge football sized arena with loads of new areas within its structure, both within the building, on the pitch, in the seats and on the roof.  I can see this being quite a fun area to explore, partake in gunfights and of course, acquire loot.  The other new area is the train station, which also includes a freight train that will patrol the south-western area of the Verdansk map, which should make for some unique battle encounters.  In the Verdansk Map, ascenders will also be added to some of the larger buildings, so you can traverse to the rooftop, from the outside more quickly.

The update will also bring in new modes, such as the mini battle royale, which will lower the player numbers, but also quickens the mode.  So you’ll drop in, frantically gather weapons before the map begins to close and all close-quarter mayhem will undoubtedly break loose.  Other new modes for Modern Warfare and Warzone include Bare Bones, which is a mode that rotates Team Deathmatch, Head Quarters, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint.  Bare Bones will also feature no Killstreaks, field upgrades or perks.  We’ll also be treated to Search & Destroy Double Down, a new 12v12 take on the popular mode.

The multiplayer of Modern Warfare will also be getting four new maps with Suldal Harbour and Petrov Oil Rig, both for 6v6 match-types.  Ground War will be getting the Verdansk International Airport taken from the Battle Royale map, while the 2v2 Gunfight will be getting the Livestock map.  Later on in Season 5, Livestock will also be coming to 6v6 match-types.

Finally, Season 5 will also bring in a new Operator being Lurch of Shadow Company, as well as a Roze “Rook” Operator skin.  We will also be getting two new weapons to acquire, the ISO (SMG) which is unlocked at Tier 15 and the AN-94 (ARG), which is unlocked at Tier 31.
